Aaron Cometbus has been the conscience of American punk zine culture since before most people knew what a zine was, and he's still doing it better than anyone.

Downtown Local is his street-level social history of 21st century New York City, the kind of writing that only happens when someone actually lives in a place rather than just writing about it. Cometbus built his reputation through decades of his self-titled zine, and that same voice is here: precise, funny, deeply human, and completely indifferent to what the literary world thinks is worth documenting.
