Portland has always punched above its weight in extreme music, and Dispossessed are proof the Pacific Northwest underground hasn't gone soft. Dêmocide is death metal with sludge in its veins and doom dragging at its ankles, the kind of record that sounds like the collapse of something large and load-bearing.

The title isn't subtle, and neither is the music. Democide, the killing of people by their own government, is a word that belongs on a record this heavy.
