DEF LEPPARD Hysteria CD (1987)
Hysteria spent 49 weeks on the Billboard 200 and produced seven singles. Seven. In 1987 that was either a miracle or a symptom of something deeply wrong with radio, depending on who you ask.
Love it or find it a bit too polished for your taste, there's no serious argument against the fact that Def Leppard were operating at a commercial and sonic peak here. Rick Allen recording his drum parts one-armed after a car accident. Mutt Lange engineering every frequency until it gleamed. Pour Some Sugar on Me becoming a fixture at venues from Sheffield to suburban Melbourne for the next four decades. Hysteria is the record that defined an entire strain of stadium hard rock, and its influence runs through everything from hair metal to the more melodic end of the alternative mainstream.
2017 reissue. Full length CD. UK origin. Tracklist includes Animal, Pour Some Sugar on Me, Armageddon It, Love Bites, and Rocket.
