Death Wolf are what happens when members of Marduk decide horror punk and black metal belong in the same room, and nobody argues with them. This is the project of Morgan Håkansson, and II: Black Armoured Death is exactly as bleak and propulsive as that name demands.

Released in 2013, this is Swedish darkness filtered through the skeleton-and-leather end of the punk spectrum. Think Samhain if Samhain had grown up on Scandinavian metal and never recovered. The riffs are mean, the atmosphere is genuinely unsettling, and the whole thing sits in that weird, fertile space where horror punk crosses into something with actual menace behind it. Not for the faint-hearted, very much for your collection.
