1993. A frozen church somewhere in Norway. Fenriz and Nocturno Culto recorded Under A Funeral Moon in a week and accidentally defined a genre for the next thirty years.

The second record in Darkthrone's black metal trilogy sits between A Blaze in the Northern Sky and Transilvanian Hunger, and it remains one of the coldest, most deliberately primitive things ever committed to tape. The band stripped back every production instinct and came out the other side with something that sounds like it was recorded inside a cave during a blizzard, which was entirely the point. This licensed patch belongs on any jacket that takes the dark aesthetic seriously, not as a costume, but as a commitment.
