DARKTHRONE True Norwegian Black Metal L/Sleeve

1994. Norway. A second-wave black metal scene that made the rest of the world uncomfortable, and Darkthrone right at the centre of it. Transilvanian Hunger had just dropped, the riffs were getting rawer, the production worse on purpose, and nobody was apologising for any of it.

This long sleeve wears the True Norwegian Black Metal tagline the band basically invented as a cultural stance. Darkthrone spent the better part of the nineties dismantling everything polished about metal and turning minimalism into ideology. Nocturno Culto and Fenriz are still at it, still a two-piece, still putting out records on their own terms. The TNBM slogan isn't nostalgia here, it's a statement about what this music was always supposed to be.
