Darkthrone have been making records for so long and with such deliberate contempt for trend-chasing that at this point they've lapped the entire metal scene twice and are still going.

Lone Pines of the Lost Planet arrived in 2023, another entry in the band's long post-black metal arc through crust, doom and heavy metal classicism, the kind of record Fenriz and Nocturno Culto make because they genuinely cannot stop. The album art has that cold, windswept Nordic desolation that Darkthrone have always done better than anyone, and it translates perfectly onto a back patch. If you're building a vest that says anything at all about your taste in dark, underground metal, a Darkthrone patch is foundational.
