Australian thrash has always had its own particular energy, a little rawer, a little more isolated, running on spite and petrol fumes rather than Sunset Strip ambition. Dark Order are part of that lineage, and Cold War Of The Condor is the record that proves they understood exactly what thrash metal is supposed to feel like.

Released in 2010 and coming out of the same Melbourne underground ecosystem that produced some of the country's most uncompromising heavy music, this is riff-first, technically sharp, no-fat thrash. The kind that takes the genre seriously without taking itself too seriously. The digipak presentation is a nice touch for a record that rewards close attention.
