DAMNED (The), Young, Hot, Loud Patch

Before the Clash signed to CBS, before the Sex Pistols imploded on a San Francisco stage, The Damned were already faster, weirder, and more fun than all of them. 1977 and they were the first UK punk band to release a single, the first to tour America, and somehow still the most underrated of the lot.

Young, Hot & Loud was the 1977 US compilation that introduced American audiences to the chaos, and it remains a statement of intent from a band that never quite fit the punk mould neatly enough to be boring. This woven patch belongs on a jacket that's seen things, not one that came pre-distressed from a fast fashion chain. Gothic, punk, alternative fashion credentials don't get much more foundational than this.
