Cyrtotrachelus buqueti is one of those creatures that makes you question what evolution was thinking, and respect it completely. Those absurdly elongated front legs, the pronounced rostrum, the iridescent shell, it looks like something HR Giger would sketch if he were really into entomology. Native to Southeast Asia and part of the vast Curculionidae family (the largest family of beetles on earth, over 80,000 species deep), this weevil has the kind of presence that earns its wall space.
