Cypress Hill spent the nineties proving that hip hop and heavy metal weren't just compatible, they were the same primal urge in different clothes. B-Real's nasal snarl over DJ Muggs' bone-thick basslines hit like a freight train, and their influence runs straight through to every band that ever thought about mixing samples with down-tuned guitars.

Rise Up from 2010 was the full realisation of that metal-rap crossover, featuring Tom Morello and Everlast, landing somewhere between Funkadelic and the blackest Sabbath record you can imagine.
