The Cult figured out something most bands never do: how to be simultaneously arena-sized and genuinely dangerous. Ceremony was 1991, post-Sonic Temple, Ian Astbury deep in his shamanic cowboy era and Billy Duffy wringing gothic rock out of a guitar that sounded like it was on fire.

This is the record that splits the room. Die-hards who came through Love and Electric had opinions about the direction. Everyone else heard a band that refused to sit still, dragging dark aesthetic sensibilities into something harder, weirder, more American. It holds up. So does the artwork.
