Every haunted house starts with a bad housekeeping policy.

Loose-weave black gauze that drapes, snags and sags exactly like a century of cobwebs nobody had the nerve to dust. String it across doorways, swag it over the bookcase, wind it down the banister or hang it over mirrors like the house is in deep mourning. Tear it, stretch it, cut it to shape. Layer it over a window and let the streetlight leak through the weave for that abandoned asylum glow. It only gets better the more you wreck it, which is the opposite of most things in your house.
