Tod Browning made Dracula, but Mark of the Vampire is where he got weird with it. A 1935 MGM pseudo-sequel that was legally not a sequel, starring Bela Lugosi doing exactly what you want Bela Lugosi to do, complete with a twist ending that either ruined or made the whole thing depending on who you ask.

This is pre-code horror energy preserved in poster form. Lugosi's Count Mora is pure dark aesthetic, all cape and dead eyes and atmosphere, the kind of image that belongs on the wall of anyone who takes their horror seriously. Universal Monsters get all the glory, but this MGM oddity has a cult following for good reason. It's weirder, stranger, and more unsettling than it has any right to be.
