Before every fantasy film tried to be gritty and realistic, Conan the Barbarian was already doing it, and also had a better soundtrack and more oiled muscle.

The 1982 Milius film sits at a very specific crossroads that alternative and metal culture never really left, part sword-and-sorcery pulp, part proto-dark aesthetic, with Basil Polidouris's score doing more emotional heavy lifting than most bands manage in a career. This large-format woven patch is built for the back of a jacket or the centre panel of a vest with ambitions, the kind of centrepiece that makes everything around it make sense.
