Pittsburgh's Circle of Dead Children spent the better part of two decades making music that sounded like it was composed inside a collapsing building, and Psalm of the Grand Destroyer is them at peak annihilation. Released in 2010 on Willowtip, this is the band's fifth full-length and one of the nastier entries in a catalogue that never once played nice.

Grindcore with death metal density and a hardcore refusal to give you a single comfortable second. CODC always had a knack for writing songs that felt structurally unhinged but somehow landed, and this record leans into that chaos with purpose. It sits comfortably in the same brutal company as prime Brutal Truth and early Regurgitate without sounding derivative of either. If your idea of a good time involves blast beats, throat-shredding vocals, and riffs that arrive like blunt force trauma, this is already yours.
