There's a rawness to death metal that comes from one person holding every piece of it together, making decisions that a full band would argue over, and the result here is something with real conviction. Confined to Time sits in the old school tradition without being a tribute act, the kind of record that suggests its creator has spent serious time with the classics and then gone somewhere personal with that knowledge. New Mexico doesn't have a death metal scene you read about in histories, which might be exactly why this sounds the way it does.
