Innocence and Wrath is a 2017 digipak compilation drawing from the Swiss legends' catalogue, a band whose shadow stretches across thrash, doom, death, and black metal simultaneously. Tom Gabriel Fischer and company invented a kind of dark, lurching heaviness in the mid-80s that bands are still trying to replicate today, every chord like dragging something dead across a stone floor. If you've ever wanted to understand where the alt and gothic metal underground actually came from, the lineage runs directly through Celtic Frost. This isn't a history lesson though, it's just genuinely great, evil music that holds up completely.
