The early 2000s UK hardcore scene was doing something genuinely strange, and not enough people have given it its due.

The Blueprint sat in that uncomfortable, interesting space between post-hardcore aggression and something more atmospheric and textured, close company with Earthtone9 and Vision of Disorder's influence bleeding across the Atlantic. Ecliptic came out in 2003 when that sound had hit a certain peak of ambition before the genre either went metalcore or quietly dissolved.
