Melbourne's post-millennium indie rock scene produced a lot of bands who sounded like they were trying to get on a TV soundtrack. Blackchords were not one of them.

This 2009 self-titled debut arrived in a DigiPak and felt genuinely Australian in the way that matters, melancholic without being overwrought, melodic without going soft. There's a quiet tension running through tracks like "Sleepwalker" and "As Night Falls" that owes more to the darker end of alternative rock than anything on commercial radio.
