Masters of Reality is the album where Black Sabbath figured out that slower was scarier. Dropped in 1971, it gave the world "Sweet Leaf," "Children of the Grave," and "Into the Void," a tracklist that effectively wrote the blueprint for doom, stoner, and about forty other metal subgenres that wouldn't have names for another decade.
