Three albums in and Tony Iommi tuned down even further, slowed everything to a crawl, and accidentally invented doom metal. Master of Reality is the record that made heavy music genuinely heavy, and nothing released in 1971 sounds remotely like it.

Children of the Grave, Into the Void, Sweet Leaf. Ozzy at his most unsettling, Geezer Butler writing bass lines that felt like tectonic plates shifting. This is the point in the Sabbath catalogue where the dark aesthetic stopped being a stylistic choice and became something closer to doctrine. The Digipak presentation does it justice without over-dressing it, which feels appropriate for an album this unfussy about its own power.
