Before there was a rulebook for American hardcore, Black Flag were already burning it. Released in 1980, Jealous Again is the EP that helped cement the blueprint, Ron Reyes on vocals, Greg Ginn's guitar already sounding like controlled electrical failure, and a band from Hermosa Beach making noise that genuinely alarmed people.

Five tracks. No fat. The title track alone is a clinic in tension and release, and "White Minority" remains one of the more confrontational artifacts in punk history. This is the period before Henry Rollins, before the iconic bars logo was everywhere, before Black Flag became a tattoo on someone who's never heard Damaged.
