The death's-head hawkmoth has been unsettling people since before it turned up in Silence of the Lambs. Acherontia atropos, to give it its full ominous name, wears a skull on its back by design, which is the kind of evolutionary flex that deserves respect.

Bimmel's Last Tale Ring puts the skull and the death moth together in one piece, two of dark aesthetics most loaded symbols locked in a confrontation on your finger. The contrast between the moth's organic, wing-spread form and the hard geometry of the skull beneath it is exactly the kind of layered visual storytelling that gothic and alternative fashion does better than anything else. It's macabre without being cheap about it, and the name, cryptic and slightly literary, suggests there's a whole story in the wearer's silence.
