BESTIAL WARLUST Satan's Fist (1996) CD

Before war metal was a genre tag on a Bandcamp page, Bestial Warlust were already doing it in Melbourne, dragging black and death metal through the dirt and howling at whatever was left. Satan's Fist is their 1996 follow-up to the savage Blood & Valour, and it does not soften anything.

This is Australian black/death at its most unhinged, the kind of record that sounds like it was recorded in a collapsing shed and is better for it. The riffs are blunt instruments, the drums hit like something structural has gone wrong, and the whole thing smells faintly of accelerant. Essential for anyone tracing the lineage of extreme Australian metal from the 90s underground to what came after.
