Behemoth spent two decades sharpening their black death metal attack into something genuinely ceremonial, and Nergal nearly dying in the process gave the record a weight you can hear in every track. The album artwork is some of the most striking in the genre, occult and confrontational in a way that earns it. This flag is for the wall of someone who means it, not a pose, not an aesthetic decision, an actual declaration. Polish extreme metal doesn't produce many records this definitive.
