Not every compilation deserves shelf space, but Abyssus Abyssum Invocat does. Released in 2018, this double disc digipack collects Behemoth's two mid-period EPs, Slaves Shall Serve and Crush Fukk Create: Requiem for Generation Armageddon, which between them capture the band at peak controlled chaos before the full Evangelion cycle.

If Thelema.6 was the metamorphosis and Demigod was the arrival, these EPs are the documents from between worlds. Nergal was refining exactly how much classical structure he could dissolve in sulfuric acid before it stopped being metal and started being something harder to name. The answer, it turns out, was quite a lot. Essential for anyone going deep on the Behemoth discography rather than just owning The Satanist and calling it done.
