Glam had been declared dead so many times by 2005 that Beautiful Creatures releasing a second record felt almost like an act of defiance. The LA band never got the mainstream traction they deserved the first time around, and Deuce landed with the kind of quiet dignity that cult records usually earn years after the fact.

This is sleazy, hook-driven hard rock with the serial numbers filed off, somewhere in the neighbourhood of early Motley Crue and Buckcherry before Buckcherry became a meme. If you've got a soft spot for the Sunset Strip's last gasp, the bonus tracks here make this pressing worth hunting down specifically. It's the kind of album that sounds best loud, ideally on something that isn't a streaming service.
