BEASTIE BOYS Aglio e Olio Vinyl LP

Eight songs, fifteen minutes, zero interest in being liked. Released in 1994 while everyone was waiting for another Ill Communication, Aglio e Olio was the Beastie Boys reminding anyone who forgot that they started in a hardcore band playing CBGB before they ever touched a drum machine.

This is the record that gets pulled out when someone tries to argue the Beasties were just a novelty act. Raw, fast, genuinely aggressive, it sits closer to Bad Brains than Paul's Boutique and makes no apologies for it. The title is Italian for garlic and oil, a pasta dish MCA apparently made well. The music does not taste like pasta. Pressing it to a full LP format gives it room to breathe that the original EP never quite had.
