The 1989 Batman soundtrack is one of those scores that completely rewired what a blockbuster could sound like, gothic and operatic and genuinely strange in a way that Hollywood mostly forgot how to do. Batman Returns pushed it further, leaning deeper into the carnival darkness and Elfman's obsession with Bernard Herrmann. Pressed together here on coloured vinyl, this is the dark aesthetic done right before anyone called it that. If your collection runs to horror soundtracks, industrial, and things that sound vaguely menacing, this belongs in it.
