Vol. II of the In Memory Of Quorthon trilogy continues the excavation, drawing from across the catalogue to map the terrain between the lo-fi black metal savagery of the early 80s recordings and the grand, windswept ambition of the later Viking period. Released two years after his death in 2004, this series stands as a genuine tribute rather than a catalogue obligation, each volume presenting a different dimension of what made Bathory so foundational to dark and extreme metal. Owning all three feels correct.
