Oakland has a particular way of making doom metal sound like the ground itself is angry. Barren Altar have been carrying that weight for a while, and "Entrenched In The Faults Of The Earth" is exactly as heavy and uncompromising as the title promises.

Blackened doom and sludge at its most literal, this is slow, suffocating, and absolutely deliberate. The Bay Area has always had a strong current of sludge running through it, Sleep and Graves at Sea both came from that soil, and Barren Altar sit comfortably in that lineage while pulling in a blackened edge that keeps it from getting too comfortable.
