German melodic power metal has a very specific energy, somewhere between an arena and a fantasy novel, and AXXIS have been living in that space since the early nineties without apology.

Released in 2007, Doom of Destiny arrived as a tribute to founding guitarist Harry Oellers, who passed away before the record was completed. That weight sits inside the music without crushing it, big hooks and polished riffs carrying something genuinely felt underneath all the melodic power metal architecture. AXXIS have always had more soul than their genre sometimes gets credit for, and this album is a good place to remember why.
