AXIS OF ADVANCE Obey CD (2004)
Canadian war metal doesn't ask for your permission. Axis of Advance were the kind of band that made you feel like the rehearsal space was inside a burning tank, and Obey (2004) is exactly as subtle as that sounds.
Jammer, Wor, and Vermin had already established themselves as architects of the Blasphemy lineage by this point, and Obey refined their chaotic black/death assault into something almost surgical in its brutality. Almost. The riffs still feel like they're collapsing inward, the percussion is relentless, and the whole thing has that raw, analogue weight that digital production will never replicate. If you've been working through the Nuclear War Now! catalogue or you're deep into the war metal rabbit hole, this one belongs in the collection.
