AUDREY HORNE Le Fol CD (2007)

Bergen, Norway has a habit of producing bands that refuse to stay in one lane, and Audrey Horne, named after the Twin Peaks character who was always the most interesting person in the room, are exactly that band.

Le Fol is their 2007 debut, landing somewhere between classic rock swagger, gothic undertones, and the kind of dark alternative rock that slots naturally next to mid-period HIM or early Turbonegro on the shelf. There's melodic heft here without any of the radio-ready softness, built on big riffs and a frontman who sounds like he grew up listening to both Thin Lizzy and Sisters of Mercy and saw no contradiction in that. For the alternative fashion crowd who want something to actually play at volume.
