ARCANE ART KritaRan CD (2003)

Norway gave us black metal and fjords. It also gave us a small and serious dark wave and industrial underground that most people outside the scene completely missed.

Arcane Art occupied that space where darkwave bleeds into cold industrial, the kind of music that owes as much to early Nitzer Ebb and Wumpscut as it does to anything guitar-driven. KritaRan from 2003 is a document from a moment when the European dark electronic scene was dense with small labels and serious intentions. Not a household name, which is exactly why it ends up here. ALT CVLT exists partly for this, the records that never got the exposure they deserved, the ones that circulate between people who know.
