ANTHRAX - State of Euphoria VINYL

State of Euphoria gets a rough deal in the Anthrax canon. Released in 1988 between the untouchable Among the Living and the commercial pivot of Persistence of Time, it got tagged as a stumble when really it was a band mid-mutation, loud and restless and not entirely sure where they were going. That energy has aged better than the critics who wrote it off.

This 30th anniversary deluxe 2LP gives it the reappraisal it deserves. Tracks like Be All End All and Now It's Dark still hit with that signature New York thrash aggression, and the expanded format gives you room to hear the album as a document of a scene at its commercial peak and slightly confused about what to do next. Which is, honestly, a very relatable position.
