Before Morbid Angel clones became a genre unto themselves, Angelcorpse were doing it with more venom and less patience. Hammer of Gods landed in 1996 like a war crime, Pete Helmkamp's bass tone alone enough to strip paint off a church wall.

Blackened death metal at its most uncompromising. This isn't the polished Florida template, it's that template dragged through barbed wire and set on fire. Gene Palubicki's riffs move at a speed that feels genuinely hostile, and the production has that raw, pressurised quality that separates the real stuff from the genre tourists. This reissue adds two bonus tracks for anyone who thought the original runtime wasn't punishing enough.
