Released in 1998 on Vagrant Records, this is the record that cemented Alkaline Trio as something more than a pop punk band, closer to a small dark religion. Matt Skiba's guitar work sits somewhere between Descendents urgency and something genuinely gothic, and the songwriting, full of coffins and car crashes and bad relationships, hasn't aged a day. If you got into this band through Maybe I'll Catch Fire or From Here to Infirmary and you haven't heard where it all started, this is the beginning. This repress comes on limited edition blood drop magenta vinyl, which is exactly the colour this record deserves.
