AKHLYS Melinoë Vinyl LP (2020)

Naas Alcameth built Akhlys around a concept pulled straight from Greek mythology, Melinoë being the chthonic daughter of Zeus and Persephone, goddess of nightmares and propitiation of the dead. The music earns that mythology.

Melinoë is the 2020 follow-up to The Dreaming I, and where that record leaned into oppressive black metal atmosphere, this one folds in more dark ambient texture, the kind of suffocating, hallucinatory drift that makes you check the locks twice. It's the sort of record that rewards headphones in a dark room and punishes casual listening. Standard black vinyl edition with an 8 page booklet and download card, because some of us still want the physical object even when the music is trying to dissolve our sense of self.
