AGMEN came out of Czechia during a period when Eastern Europe was quietly producing some of the most uncompromising black and death metal the underground had to offer, and Damnation is the document. The melodic thread running through the record keeps it from being pure static, but don't mistake that for softness. Fans of the Norwegian second wave will find the DNA familiar, the rawness of Darkthrone and Mayhem filtered through a slightly different geography and a death metal sensibility closer to the Polish scene than the Scandinavian. This is the kind of record that surfaces in collector circles for a reason.
