ADICTS The, Fifth Overture RSD Yellow Vinyl LP

The Adicts are the band that proved punk and pantomime were always meant for each other. Fifth Overture came out in 1986, by which point Monkey and the crew had already carved out a look and a sound so distinct that thirty years later you can spot an Adicts kid across a festival crowd without trying.

This is Record Store Day yellow vinyl, and it suits them. The Adicts were never a grey record sleeve band. Their UK punk runs closer to music hall and glam rock than to the grimy minimalism of the first wave, and that's exactly what makes them essential rather than just historical. If you got into punk through The Exploited or GBH and somehow missed these lot, consider this the correction.
