French black metal has always had a particular viciousness to it, a kind of ideological fury that the Scandinavians never quite bottomed out. Ad Hominem sit right at the centre of that tradition, and Theory O is one of their leaner, meaner dispatches from it.

Released in 2008, this EP is Ad Hominem doing what they do best: raw, misanthropic black metal with enough momentum to leave a mark. If you came to the French black metal underground through Antaeus or Temple of Baal, this fits neatly into that lineage, though Ad Hominem always had their own particular brand of contempt for everything outside the void. It's the kind of record that doesn't negotiate.
