1349 The Infernal Pathway CD 2019
Norwegian black metal doesn't do subtlety, and 1349 have never wanted it to. Since crawling out of Oslo in the late '90s, they've been one of the genre's most uncompromising forces, and The Infernal Pathway is them at full, relentless velocity.
Released in 2019, this is 1349 locking back into the raw, blasting fury that made Hellfire such a landmark, while pushing their sonic architecture into stranger, more dissonant territory. Ravn's vocals sit somewhere between a scream and a pronouncement. Frost behind the kit is, as always, genuinely unsettling. The production is dense and cold in exactly the way black metal from this corner of the world should be. If you've been following the Norwegian black metal scene from Darkthrone through to the more experimental post-BM wave, this sits comfortably in the lineage while refusing to coast on legacy.
