UK Grim from 2023 is their twelfth record and somehow they're still getting angrier, which is either exhausting or inspiring depending on your afternoon. Jason Williamson's spoken-word bile sits over Andrew Fearn's skeletal synth-punk loops like a man who has run out of patience with absolutely everything, and the result is post-punk that sounds nothing like anyone else doing post-punk right now. Guest spots from Amy Taylor of Amyl and the Sniffers and Billy Nomates sharpen the edges further. This is not background music. It will make you feel something, probably fury, which is the correct response to the current situation. Essential for any dark aesthetic record shelf next to your Idles and your early Fall.
