Supergroups usually disappoint. L.S. Dunes did not get that memo. When members of My Chemical Romance, Coheed and Cambria, Circa Survive, and Thursday collide, the result probably shouldn't work this well, and yet Past Lives sounds like post-hardcore remembering what it was actually for.

Released in 2022, the record hits that sweet spot between anthemic and abrasive, big choruses with real weight behind them, the kind of alternative rock that earns its emotional gut-punch rather than just gesturing at one. Anthony Green's vocals are, predictably, otherworldly. If you came up on the early-2000s post-hardcore and emo underground, this record feels like running into an old friend who got better with age.
