Australian black metal doesn't ask for your permission. Hebephrenique, the Melbourne-spawned one-man project, has been operating in the margins of the local underground with the kind of intensity that makes you feel like you're trespassing somewhere you probably shouldn't be.

Non Compos Mentis translates loosely to "not of sound mind" and that tracks. This is dissonant, misanthropic black metal in the grand tradition of artists who treat the genre as a psychological event rather than a musical one. The Obliviis pressing is one of only 85 copies pressed, making it the kind of thing that ends up in serious collections and stays there. Australian black metal this focused and uncompromising rarely gets a physical release at all, let alone a limited colour variant.
