Every great Clutch record sounds like it was written in a van, debated in a diner at 2am, and recorded before anyone could talk them out of it. Book of Bad Decisions is forty years of hard living distilled into fifty-three minutes of swamp-fried, groove-heavy rock and roll that makes most other bands sound like they're still figuring out their tuner pedal.

Released in 2018, this is Clutch at full throttle, pulling from Southern rock, blues, hard rock and a little bit of everything they've absorbed since Transnational Speedway League. Neil Fallon's lyrical world, cowboys, occult history, whiskey theology, is in fine form here. Tracks like Spirit of '76 and In Walks Barbarella are instant live staples. The band from Germantown, Maryland hasn't put a foot wrong in three decades, and this record is why.
