Blind Guardian have been doing the thing where they make power metal sound genuinely cinematic since before most of their fans were born. The God Machine is them reminding everyone that no one does it like this.

Released in 2022, The God Machine is a leaner record than the orchestral behemoths they were constructing in the 2000s, but don't mistake lean for restrained. Hansi Kürsch is still one of the most commanding voices in the genre, and the riffwork sits somewhere between classic speed metal and the kind of epic, layered songwriting that made Imaginations from the Other Side a landmark.
