The Eternal Idol is the Glenn Hughes-who-didn't-make-it, Ray Gillen-who-almost-did, Tony Martin-who-actually-did album, and it's a fascinating document of a band refusing to quit. Iommi's riffs are as crushing as anything in the back catalogue, and the production, for all its era-specific sheen, hits harder than people give it credit for. This remastered edition does the low end genuine justice. If you've only ever given Sabbath as far as Heaven and Hell, you've got homework to do.
